New Gallery Show – Octagon Gallery – Patterson Library – Alberto Rey

The new gallery show that opened on March 2, 2012 with an opening reception that was well attended was a great start to the show featuring Aberto Rey’s paintings of Selected Streams of Northern Chautauqua County New York. Featuring a several 32×48 oils on plaster of stream scene from a number of tributaries feeding Lake Erie.

New business in Westfield N.Y.

Friday February 24th saw an official opening and ribbon cutting ceremony at AG combat sports. Which is located at 71 E. Main St. on the second floor of the R.O.R building. AG combat sports is a Martial Arts and fitness studio that offers classes in Freestyle karate, Mixed Martial Arts, Kickboxing and Boxing for all ages. This is now the third studio in the AG combat sports family with the main one on Foote Ave in Jamestown, one in Randolph N.Y. and this one here in Westfield. Classes are offered during the evenings Monday – Friday and Saturday morning.

It’s always great to announce a new business in Westfield. Lets make them welcome to the town. It’s great when someone from outside the immediate area commits resources by opening a new business that continue to make Westfield N.Y. an amazing place.

17th annual choir festival in Westfield N.Y.

On the 28th of January Westfield High school was the site of the 17th annual Westfield Choir Festival. Featuring choirs and musical groups from Chautauqua Lake Central School, Maple Grove High School, Sherman Central School, Silver Creek High School, Southwestern High School and finally of course Westfield High School. You missed a great concert performed by some very talented kids and their music/choir teachers. We are lucky to have such a great musical program in the area when so many cut back in programs are happening everywhere, let support the kids and the program.

Since this website is devoted to Westfield are video will show the Westfield choirs showing their stuff. enjoy.

Westfield Wolverines and the Chaut. Lake Thunderbird Boys Basketball

The Westfield N.Y. wolverines boys basketball team. Both the JV and the Varsity team met the Chautauqua Lake Thunderbirds for a basketball game at the Westfield High school gym on Jan 27th 2012. Both the JV’s and the Varsity team won their games.

Sportsman show Westfield N.Y. Jan 21 – Jan 22

The Sportsman show which is being held Jan 21 and Jan 22, 2012 at the Fireman’s exempt hall at 75 Bourne St in Westfield New York. from 9am to 3pm.
The Sportsman Show is a fancy name for a gun show but if your into guns this is a opportunity for you to see a room full of them, along with army surplus items, knives, fishing supplies and other items of interest to the sportsman. There is an entry fee of $5.00 per adult.

There was a large turnout at the show. People checking out current firearms and firearms from the past.

There was also a local company from Forestville selling their sauce, salsa’s, bloody mary mix, and seasoning blends. Burning Asphalt Sauces out of Forestville can be check out on their website at www.burningasphalt.com If you like it mild or off the chart they have the temperature for you.

The Tropics in Westfield N.Y. art show at Patterson Library

I missed the opening reception last night for Tropical Inspiration at the Patterson Library. This art show features some very talented individual for the daycare program at the Resource Center in Jamestown and Dunkirk. The show features mostly painting that get their inspiration from the tropics, a lot of flowers, palm trees, and seascape’s . With the winter finally upon us we could all use a little tropical inspiration to help keep us warm. Take a trip to the tropics now thru Feb 24th, 2012 at the Patterson Library’s octagon gallery in Westfield N.Y.
